Five Years of Excellent Growth

During the press conference at Council of Ministers on ‘Five years of success of Banteay Meanchey provincial administration’, H.E. Oum Reatrey, the governor, outlined a few successes.

 

Banteay Meanchey is Cambodia’s biggest rice producer, with more than 305,000 hectares of cultivatable rice land. Besides rice production, the province also produces industrial crops such as cashew, cassava, red corn, sugar cane, etc. It has become Cambodia’s fourth agricultural pole. It generates 25 billion Riel of annual tax collection, which is 6,150 million USD. The income from international trade with Thailand goes from one to one and half-million-dollar per day, making Banteay Meanchey province a critical contributor to Cambodia’s economic development.

 

His excellency Oum Reatrey also mentioned the public forum between local business owners, such as the Young Entrepreneurs Association (YEAC) and Chamber of Commerce of Banteay Meanchey (CoC). This forum allows the public and private sectors to strengthen productivity, efficiency, and regulatory framework of doing business in Banteay Meanchey.
